Understanding Zigbee: A New Choice For Smart Home Networks

When setting up Zigbee devices, understanding "how Zigbee switches work" is crucial. The Zigbee hub can establish a Zigbee network, enabling devices such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings to connect to your smart home network.

Unlike the WiFi network, which requires devices to be within the range of a wireless router or access point to connect, Zigbee networks use peer-to-peer connections. For example, if you place the Zigbee hub in the living room and there is a Zigbee smart switch in the garage that is too far from the living room hub, there is no need to place another hub. Instead, you can place a Zigbee smart switch in the kitchen between the garage and the living room. In this way, the hub can connect with the device in the garage.

Zigbee makes it easy to set up a smart home network by creating a mesh network. Each Zigbee device can also act as a router. Therefore, unlike WiFi, which requires a new access point or mesh router when a part of the house is out of range, Zigbee does not need so many hubs or access points.
